Scripture References

1 Thessalonians 4:14-18
14For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.  15According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.  16For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.  17After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.  18Therefore encourage one another with these words.  (NIV)

Matthew 24:26
26“So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it.  (NIV)

2 Timothy 3:1-5
1But mark this:  There will be terrible times in the last days.  2People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God — 5having a form of godliness but denying its power.  Have nothing to do with such people.  (NIV)

2 Peter 3:2
2I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles.  (NIV)

Luke 17:26-28
26“Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man.  27People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark.  Then the flood came and destroyed them all.

28“It was the same in the days of Lot.  People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building.  (NIV)

2 Peter 3:10
10But the day of the Lord will come like a thief.  The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.  (NIV)

1 Thessalonians 5:1-3
1Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.  3While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.  (NIV)

Matthew 25:31-46
31“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, He will sit on His glorious throne.  32All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.  33He will put the sheep on His right and the goats on His left.

34“Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.  35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37“Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?  38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?  39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

41“Then He will say to those on His left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.  42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’  45“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’  46“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”  (NIV)

Matthew 13:24-25
24Jesus told them another parable:  “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.  25But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away.  (NIV)

Matthew 7:21-28
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching,  (NIV)

Revelation 1:7
7 “Look, he is coming with the clouds,”
and “every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him”;
and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.”
So shall it be! Amen.  (NIV)

Matthew 24:44
44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.  (NIV)

Hebrews 10:24
24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,  (NIV)

1 Corinthians 15:51
51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—  (NIV)

Philippians 3:21
21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.  (NIV)
